The brief
• There were two errors in Weekend crossword No 807. Clue 9 across asked for the first name of “the bomb that killed thousands at Hiroshima, 1945”. The answer sought was Enola [Gay], but this was the name of the plane that dropped the bomb, which was codenamed “Little Boy”. Meanwhile, 6 down asked for the “site in Jerusalem also known as Calgary”; this should of course have said “Calvary” (27 June, Saturday magazine, p78). • A review of The Uses of Utopia by Joad Raymond Wren said that the artist William Morris had described an elite “samurai” class in his novel News from Nowhere.
