• An article on how pain treatment differs between ethnicities said that Prof Keisha Ray was the lead author of a 2016 Boston University study of pain-related care in emergency departments. This was not the case, although she was at the time quoted on the subject as a postdoctoral fellow with the McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics at the University of Texas Health Science Center (How the pain gap lasts for a lifetime, 3 July, p14).
