Canada’s prime minister, Mark Carney, has released a statement in response to threats from Donald Trump to impose new 50% tariffs on Canadian goods in 30 days unless Canada removes barriers on US auto, alcohol and dairy products. Carney noted that all of the measures imposed by Canada on imports from the US that Trump complained of on Monday were taken in retaliation to previous US tariffs imposed by Trump.
